Bell took a wrong turn with the pig and Liam when he didn't put them together after the Amber debacle and I have been against them every since he pitted up the pig against Steffy for Liam's attention. It was just a stupid move and it made the pig look even more immature and stupid. She is a kid. Steffy is about five or six years older than the pig and honestly, I just saw no competition between these two. Steffy has it all over this character. She is older, more savvy, smart, an heiress and quite frankly, the better woman, not child, for Liam. They were age appropriate. Bell should not have had the HOG wallbang Oliver to begin with. Oliver and the pig should have been together and Liam should have been brought on for Steffy to start with.

Steffy is a fabulous character on this show. When Bell married her to Liam, all bets were off for the pig after that. Steffy became Liam's wife and he happily married her ho matter the fact that the idiot was up in gondola. Her HOG maw should have never sent her there to begin with.

I am very happy that Bell is seeing the error of his ways and changing the direction. I respect him for that and I am not a big fan of his writing. I knew when I heard Bill Spenser talking about why he wanted Steffy for his son, that something was changing.

In all fairness to TPTB and the writers, all characters have a great range of freedom in expressing the words on the paper. They, as actors make the character "their own." Two actors can read the same lines and give a totally different performance. An actress with many layers can get sympathy where another would not.
The way these two actors portray their characters has more to do with their popularity than the writing can ever do!

Bell is very surprised at the fan reaction to the characters of Steffy & Hope. Hope was written to be a young heroine and to be beloved, while Steffy was written to be unliked! This has all gone wrong as the fans have rallied around Steffy and love her, and they have not warmed up to Hope and have a deep dislike for her.

Bell has decided to change the direction of these two characters until KM's contract is up (at which time he will recast and redeem the character of Hope as the young heroine). You may be very surprised at the direction these two lovely girls will go.

I cannot give specific spoilers at this time but I will post again with an update.
