Quote Izitjo: Maybe he'll read this.
The next time you create a heroine DON'T make her snide and superior.
He gave Hope those characteristics well before this s/l. Hope behaved in a manner that didn't garner sympathy when she decided to fight back with Steffy.

Her constant, dad picked my family over yours, so get over yourself was the wrong way to go. It smacks of entitlement and condescention.
Yes Steffy, I know you feel slighted but what can I do to help?...would have been a much nicer reaction to Steffys animosity. Then, when Steffy reacted negatively, Hope would have had all my support.
Make her forgiving of Steffys antics and conciliatory as she was in the beginning before HFTF. HFTF took away all hope of Hope being a decent person.
Instead you continued with Hope being snide and justifed Steffy going after to her as retaliation.

In all fairness to TPTB and the writers, all characters have a great range of freedom in expressing the words on the paper. They, as actors make the character "their own." Two actors can read the same lines and give a totally different performance. An actress with many layers can get sympathy where another would not.
The way these two actors portray their characters has more to do with their popularity than the writing can ever do!

I totally agree.. although im gonna have to get used to a new Hope. Might take some time. But hopefully some nice dialog.

Well, it has been apparent lately that Bell totally flipped the switch on Steffy and Hope as described......

Interesting turn of events......I was never a Steffy hater, I just didn't like some of her antics but she always had heart and IMO, an entertaining, fun character.......

I bought into the whole Hope heroine story up until she broke up with no explanation From there, little by litttle, I could not support her behavior. Every day, the character
of Hope becomes a little more pathetic every day.... 8

Now, Hope appears to be written into a corner........

Quote cville: Why would it make a difference who plays Hope? I don't like her attitude and I certainly don't like saintly characters. They are no fun in a soap! They had that character in Bridgette, and look where she is! Plus, aren't they making Caroline the next saint! Why do we need 2 of them and they look alike. I like Steffy's attitude, her spunk and love JMW! Bell cannot stand the Logan hatred. He needs to get a life and focus on his bread and butter which is now JMW!

welcome to the boards cville, if I didn't tell u before...LOL
    great posts by the way

Agreed! I thought, at first Hope WAS all of those things, but, it didn't take long for her to turn completely around. I really can understand the great dislike for the Hope character.

You are right on! No Expert here, I truely think that the actor makes or breaks the character!! I know that Liam and Steffy could be a powerful couple!! BOth of them together always make me smile!! Thank you so much for posting..

I never had a problem with the actress. A lot of the dialogue was absurd and choices he had her character make were not something a heroine that he was going for would say or do. Maybe the mistake is Bell and his writers can't write anything new and they certainly no longer know how to develop a character and remain consistent with them. Hope's character is certainly not the only one they did not do justice with. To me the writers and producers are just so scattered and directionless and have been this entire year.

As for Hope I never had a problem with her or Steffy or Liam for that matter until he insisted on showing them every day for months with all other stories dropped. A recast is not going to change anything if his intent is to keep these 3 characters front and center. One plot and a recycled one at that is the problem.

Steffy's everything I enjoy watching in a soap character despite her flaws and Hope is the complete opposite. About the recasting - admittedly I'm a bit ( a lot ) of a cynic, so I'll have to say I'd believe it when it happens. I don't want to see an actress lose her job over something which I feel really isn't entirely her fault, but if they recast, wrote the character from a more sympathetic angle and dropped her snotty entitled attitude, I'd be very happy to become a fan of BnB again instead of feeling like I have to almost force myself to watch the show at the moment. I've been a regular view since it began & I really don't want to give up on a soap I've enjoyed for so many years.

If Bell is at all tuned into what viewers want they could easily write her back out of the corner.
Starting with leaving the pills behind.
Then realizing she didn't so much love Liam as want to win over Steffy AND she compromised too much of herself to accomplish the task.
Then, like Steffy, go apologize to Liams wife for sleeping with her husband. Steffy can apologize to Hope for chasing after her boyfriend and then can start acting like they do belong, albet weirdly, in the same family. KUMBAYA moments for all!
Sheesh after that the drama of disovering what makes Hope tick as it pertains to her crazy mother could keep me entertain for at least 5 years.
So many great s/ls that have nothing to do with triangles.
