Growing up in PA it was always roast pork and sauerkraut. Here in the south it is Hoppin' John or just get your serving of black eyed peas somehow. Do you have a special meal to bring good luck in 2012?

i used to make sure i made black eyed peas for "luck"... lotta folks do greens for money... heck i just cooked greens on Christmas...

i need to put me 10 aside and run to a restaurant... for real... that oven fiasco over Christmas was enough for me...

but that roast pork and saurkraut sounds good... mmmm

I always do. I have black-eyed peas for luck, some type of pork for I don't know what, peaches for peace and collard greens for money. Maybe I need to eat lots of them.

My mother always said not to wash or sweep, you'd sweep out your money and wash someone out of your family. She never did but I do. I'm sure there must be other old sayings.

I don't know. I expect if there were, lots would be washing.

My mom always made pork and sauerkraut when we were growing up. A few years ago my husband and I decided to take up the tradition. Unfortunately, he ended up in the emergency room on January 2nd, with a ruptured colon. He spent 14 days in the hospital (3 in intensive care). He had two more surgeries that year related to this incident. Needless to say, we won't be doing pork and sauerkraut ever again! lol
