I know, this may seem corny, but I grew up with the show and in some ways I was as "traumatized" by Lisa and Bob's divorce as Tom thus, my ending to the show...

My last scene would have been presented in black and white with the focus perhaps a little fuzzy, and would have opened with Lisa asleep in bed.
She is startled as a man enters the bedroom, and to her surprise it is Bob.
Bob: "I'm sorry, honey. I was trying to be quiet. I know you are exhausted...but don't worry, Tom is fine."
Lisa: [still trying to gain coherence] "Tom...what do you mean Tom is fine? Where is Tom?"
Bob: "Why, in his room were so tired you didn't hear him, but he's all right now."
Lisa: "Wait a minute...why isn't Tom with Margo?"
    Bob: "Margo? Who's Margo?"
Lisa: [exasperated]." Margo....his wife....Tom and Margo are married..."
Bob [laughing]: "That sleeping pill that I gave you must have really had some strange side effects...Tom is a little young to be married. Don't you think we need to get him off the bottle and potty trained first?"
Lisa: [totally confused] "Bob...we're still...we're still married?'
Bob: "Well I certainly hope so; I wouldn't want it any other way. You and Tom are my world, you know...and as long as the world turns, I want you...I need you to be with me."
Lisa: "Oh, wouldn't believe the strange dream that I must have spanned over 50 years...and there were some very strange things that happened to us, and some people that we don't even know...or at least we knew them in my dream, most of them, I think...oh, I don't know what I think right now...oh, Bob, in my dream we weren't together any more, and there were different times during that time, during my dream, that I kept wanting to get back with you, and you wouldn't have me...but when I think about how I was in that dream, I guess I see why you wouldn't...but Bob, I think that all during that wild crazy dream that what I really wanted all the time...what I wanted deep down inside, was for you and me to be together..."
Bob: "But Lisa we are together...and we always will be...when we said our vows, til death do you part, I meant them."
Lisa: "And Bob, I meant them too...and I mean them my dream there were times that I looked back with regret that I didn't appreciate what I had with you...but I do appreciate it Bob...where I want to be, right here right now, and forever and always is with you, and in our home, wherever it may be...and Bob, if it's always right here with Chris and Nancy and Grandpa, then that's fine with, me, and Tom...oh, Bob, I love you...and I always will."
Bob: "Well, I have to be the most blessed man in the world.”
Lisa: "After this wild dream that I had, I feel like I have lived in thousands of other worlds, but I don't want another world; I want the one we have right here...right now...and I hope we always have our private world...together..."
Bob: "Sweetheart; it's late, and we both need our rest; it's going to be a busy day tomorrow."
Lisa: "And I just want you to know, that tomorrow...and every day after that I will be here waiting for you, wanting you, loving you. Rest well, my sweetheart."
    Bob: "You, too. Good night."
Fade to picture of Don McGlothlin, Helen Wagner, and Santos Ortega [Chris, Nancy and Grandpa]; then to black and white globe spinning with original organ music theme; slow crawl of current cast members. Don Hastings voice over: “Thank you for joining us today for the final broadcast of As The World Turns, and for welcoming us into your homes for the past 54 years. On behalf of the cast and entire crew of As The World Turns, we bid you farewell.”
