Soaps.com is very sad to report that former "As The World Turns" actor Anthony Herrera died on June 21 in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the age of 67. Fans may remember back in 1997, Anthony was diagnosed with a rare and typically fatal lymphoma. After his medical history-making donor transplant, Anthony had been in remission for ten years. He went on to be very active in regards to stem cell research and wrote about his story through the book "The Cancer War."
Anthony played Oakdale's James Stenbeck off and on from 1980 to 2010. His co-star Martha Byrne (Ex-Lily) tweeted, "RIP Anthony Herrera…so many great memories… He loved that dog pictured with him on Facebook… He died in a place he loved…God Bless… He wrote the book "The Cancer War." Please read it if you can. It would make him so happy…he fought that and won many times.”
