    Lucinda and John go to see Lily. Lucinda tells her daughter that she can have the company because she's going to spend the rest of her life having a good time with John. "You're off the hook," she says. She and John leave. Lily and Holden don't know if that was real. She worries about her mom getting involved with John again. He's sure that as long as they love each other, it will be enough. She walks him to the door. "I..." she starts. "I know," he says.

    Holden walks Lily home. He hates that things are no longer simple between them after the history they share. They talk about Molly and reminisce about stables until John rushes over and asks Lily if she will forget her mother. "Forget it," she snaps. John tries to talk her around but then gets called off to work. Holden tells Lily to stick to her guns. They discuss how her mother always butts into her life. She feels like she always caves to her. She asks him to hold her hand when she goes head to head with her mom.

    Lucinda walks into Lily's as she's about to kiss Holden. She smugly declares that she was right about them all along. Lily explains that she isn't willing to forgive and forget the hurt she has caused her. Lucinda is sorry. Lily wants a time out so they can think about their relationship. Maybe some day she'll give her another chance... After Lucinda walks out, Holden holds Lily's hand. She thanks him and they smell the burning leaves. They remember when he was just a stable boy and kiss.

    Holden asks Lily for her permission to dance with Molly. She doesn't know why he's asking. He goes off to dance with Molly. They talk about what they mean to each other and she encourages him to be with Lily and be happy.

    Craig runs into Lily at the Lakeview. She doesn't want to talk to him. He apologizes for everything that happened. She's not interested, tips him off about the wedding and tells him not to show up.

    Molly runs into Holden in Old Town. They discuss how odd it is to see each other and talk about the wedding. Lily wanders over and everyone is polite.

    Holden and Lily go home and find Faith pouting. She thinks no one wants her at the wedding so she doesn't want to go. Her parents tell her to put her personal issues aside. Her dad asks her to go for him.

    Jack takes Carly to the farm house where her maids are waiting with her wedding dress. After he leaves, the ladies show Carly that they each have a flower for her to carry down the aisle. She makes them promise to always stay in her life. Lily arrives with a gift and tells Carly that she's sorry for not listening to her about Craig.

    Jack meets with his party in the garden. He tells Will that his father would be proud of him and then teases Holden and tells Parker he's the best son in the world. They talk about what a hard year it has been but Jack is sure that this will mark the beginning of good things. Lily arrives and Parker goes off to find Faith. Carly and her party arrive. She looks around nervously. He reminds her that they've done this before.

    In Brooklyn, Lily and Holden fond Reid's Uncle Angus and inform him that his nephew is dead. "That's a damn shame," he says. Holden explains that Luke was given power of attorney but they need his legal permission to deal with the remains. They explain that Luke and Reid were in love and how they changed each other's lives. He signs the papers and shows them the knight that Reid was about to move before he walked away from chess. He tells them anecdotes about Reid's chess career and how he's carried the piece with him since the last time they saw each other. He asks Lily to give it to her son.
