Will and Gwen return to the cottage. "This is like some kind of sick joke," Gwen says. She grabs the ornament that Barbara gave them from the tree and throws it across the room. She begins to cry. Will comforts her, saying they still have a chance to have kids at some point. Barbara calls but they let the answering machine pick up. Barbara's voice begs them to understand why she did what she did and apologizes. Gwen rips the phone and machine from the wall! Will puts his arms around Gwen who is positive that kids are now completely out of the question for them. Will tells her that someday they will have the family they crave.
Baby Fever in Oakdale
At the cottage, Will and Gwen are stunned when Alison says she might know who the birth mom is! Gwen wants all the details but Will isn't so sure. He gives in and Alison tells them that she believes the baby is Sofie's! The Munson's are stunned. "I think Cole made her agree to give up her baby," Allie says and tells them about what she and Aaron have learned. Will and Gwen realize they have been manipulated, too. She tells them about seeing the lawyer, about the knitted hat and all the coincidences between their adoption and Sofie's adoption. Then she drops the real bomb - that Barbara may be involved, too! "No. No. No, Barbara wouldn't do that to me," Gwen cries. Alison tells them about talking with Barbara and how Cole and Sofie were planning to leave town just after their meeting. Gwen turns to Will, hoping he doesn't believe Alison but he does. Allie apologizes for bursting their bubble and then leaves. Gwen turns on Will, asking him how he could defend Allie at Barbara's expense. Will points out that Barbara has a history of going too far. Will grabs his coat and tells Gwen they need to talk to Barbara; Gwen doesn't want to know the truth, though. He tells her there could still be an innocent explanation and they leave.
Iris hurries to The Lakeview to find Barbara. She tells her that Alison and Aaron blew everything just as Will and Gwen arrive!
Baby News!
Barbara pays a visit to Will and Gwen. Gwen thanks Barbara for helping them become parents and then apologizes for being standoffish lately. She says she is just used to being conned but now she realizes Barbara has their best interests at heart - unlike Iris! Babs gets a call from Cole and leaves quickly.
Barbara returns to the cottage to give Will and Gwen the good news - they may have a baby girl sooner than they thought! Both are excited at the news. Will decides they should call Alison since she was such a help to them through the surrogacy tries but Barbara tells him not to call her! She says they deserve to have a few moments of quiet and happiness. She leaves.
Aaron and Alison meet up in Old Town and go over what they know. Both realize that they still don't have anything to link Gwen to Sofie's lawyer. Alison decides to call Will to see what they know. She does and learns that they know about the baby girl and that the baby is coming early. Aaron says that is all the proof they need. He leaves to confront Cole at the hospital. In the hall, he sees Cole who is trying to convince the doctor to induce labor so he and Sofie can get out of town. Aaron punches him!
Meanwhile, Alison returns to the cottage to ask Will and Gwen a few more questions about their adoption. "There is something you both need to know," she says!
Alison and Aaron Investigate
Will and Gwen are dragging their Christmas tree through Old Town when they run into Barbara. She has a gift for them - a "baby's first" ornament. Gwen tells Barbara that the thought is great but that the birth mom could still change her mind. Will backs up Gwen, telling Barbara that they need to remain realistic. Barbara says she is being realistic and they will have their child! Gwen can't listen and walks away. She runs into Alison and tells her about their pending adoption. Gwen tells her about the baby - that the birth mom is in her third trimester and it will be a closed affair. Allie begins to wonder if Sofie might be the birth mother! She leaves. Will and Gwen return to the cottage. Will asks if they should open the baby gift but Gwen says no. After a while she decides they can open the gift. They love the gift and begin to decorate the tree. Gwen places the baby ornament on first.
Paternity Confirmed - Maybe!
At the cottage, Gwen asks Will about a movie and then stops short. He's working on a baby crib and she asks him to stop! Will wants to finish things up so they are ready but Gwen feels it is bad luck. She reminds him that she didn't want to give up her baby once she signed the papers, afraid that the mother they are working with will do the same thing. She also wants to meet the mother so they can determine if she is caring for herself. Barbara stops by and Gwen tells her what they want. Barbara tries to convince Gwen it's a bad idea but Gwen won't be swayed. Iris calls Barbara and tells her they have big problems. To get away from Will and Gwen, Barbara says she has a situation at work and then offers to ask the lawyer about meeting the birth mother. She leaves. A while later, the lawyer calls! He tells them that the birth mom wants a closed adoption! Will hangs up and tells Gwen maybe they should wait until they find a birth mother who wants an open adoption. Gwen tells him that they should go ahead with the closed adoption.
Jack Turns to Katie!
After speaking to the lawyer and settling the details with Iris and Cole, Barbara heads for the cottage. She tells Will and Gwen about the lawyer she found and says he found the couple who want to give their baby up. She tells them she gave them some history and background and they've chosen the Munsons! Will and Gwen are stunned. Barbara leaves. Feeling happy, Will starts calling Gwen "Mom". She tells him not to make it too real, too fast.
