    Where Is That Jerk?

    Wednesday, September 08 2010

John runs into Lucinda at the bar in the Lakeview. From the way she's drinking Bloody Marys, he guesses she has a problem with Lily. Sitting down, he asks her to fill him in. She vaguely explains what she did and how she turned to the mob for help. Lucinda complains about how criminals aren't what they used to be and chaos erupted. He doesn't want to leave her alone to get plastered but she doesn't want his advice. John tells her about the operation and how Reid won't save anymore lives now. He says that she sets herself up for disappointment and has no one to blame for her problems but herself.

John goes to Worlwide and walks into Lucinda's office as she makes a call to Dusty, telling him they need to plan another attack on Lily. John starts lecturing her and telling her she's her own worst enemy. He's determined to talk some sense into her.

At home, Casey and Alison look at the photo tribute to Nancy they put together. They talk about how unexpected this was and then he tries to give her the ring. She thinks it's too sudden for his family, especially since they will both be moving away. He can't believe the funeral was so short and declares that they need to do more. As they go out, Lucinda arrives. Susan comes in next, followed by Barbara. They talk about their lives and wonder what Nancy would do. She always managed to live without drama... They recall 'the bus ride from hell' and laugh.

John sits with Lucinda in the bar and they chat about her family. "The more things change, the more they stay the same," he says. She misses her daughter and asks for his advice but he doesn't have any. He tells a Nancy story and then suggests that she swallow her pride and apologize to Lily.

On the grounds, Lucinda tells Ralph he's out of his mind if he thinks he can turn her in. She reminds him that she sprung him from prison. He wishes she'd run off with him like she would have in the old days. She refuses to go on the run. Ralph tells her she's gone so far downhill with her daughter she'll never get her back. Lucinda doubts that but asks him not to call the Feds on her.

Craig runs into Jack and Carly. They tell him Ralph and Blackie have been arrested. Lucinda walks by so he makes a lewd comment about Lily. She wants to swat him but he says she's actually gone back to town. He tips Jack off that Lucinda is an old friend of Ralph's. He calls over to Ralph, but the mobster claims he's never seen her before. After Carly and Jack walk off, Lucinda tells Craig that her daughter must have come to her senses about him. He tells her she won't win her daughter back this time.

    Never Call Me Mom Again.

    Tuesday, August 24 2010

Upstairs, Lucinda is miffed when Ralph keeps calling her Mary Ellen. He pours her some brandy and explains that the governor freed him as soon as she called him. She's surprised that he got out so easily considering he's a criminal. He points out that most of the people in Oakdale are too. She wants him to fix what she botched with Craig. She needs him to get rid of Blackie. He'd rather talk about their past and says he knows her well enough to know when she's trying to snow him. Lucinda explains that she needs him to order Blackie away and mentions that Janet is involved.

Craig finds Lucinda in the pool room and they begin bickering about Lily. He taunts her, making lewd suggestions and rubbing her face in them. "She's given in several times already," he says. She tries to walk away but he kicks it up and suggests they could be in-laws again. When he calls her 'mom', she shoves him in the pool. He moans and she threatens him, warning him never to call her 'mom' again. As Lucinda storms off, Carly comes in and helps him out of the water. She shoves him back in as soon as he gets out. She saunters off. Lily wanders in and laughs when she sees him climbing out of the pool. He tells her what happened.

Outside, Lucinda tells Ralph all about what she did to her daughter and why. She wonders how she could have been callous like that. He says she's just used to acting that way and tells her to let her daughter stand up on her own two feet so she can make a life of her own. He advises her to slow down and enjoy things a little more. When he suggests they run away together, she laughs and tells him she left the criminal world behind eons ago. He points out that she just committed a bunch of crimes. She insists her hands are clean. He doubts the Feds would feel the same way.
