"Don't speak to my wife like she's yours," Damian warns Holden as he holds him at gunpoint in the hotel. He tells Lily they can still make things right and leave. Holden begins arguing with him but Lily claims she still loves Damian and will leave with him. Before they can run off, Meg suddenly comes back to the land of the living and leaps out of the trunk, gasping and holding a gun. Holden tells her not to do this. Damian tries to negotiate and offers to spend the rest of his life making things up to her. She hands the gun to Holden. Damian lurches for it. Lily jumps him. He throws her off and she bumps her head. Damian escapes and Meg runs after him. As the cops come, Holden tells Lily he's got her and cradles her on the floor. Molly arrives and finds them together. Holden glosses over what happened and then leads Lily off so he can get her to a hospital. Molly is left behind weeping.
Lily and Holden go to the hospital. She rants about how stupid she has been about Damian. He tells her that love makes people do desperate things. Molly arrives and explains that the police haven't found anything yet. A doctor comes in and Molly and Holden slip into the hall. She asks him if he can help her forgive herself for being desperate. He doesn't want to do this right now and blames her for nearly getting Lily and his sister killed. She begs him to try and build something with her. He sighs. The doctor comes out and says that Lily wants to see them. Molly dries her tears and they go back in. When Holden leaves the women alone to take a call, Lily demands some answers. Molly admits that Damian convinced her to cover up the truth. Lily can understand that, but doesn't see why she is so insecure. Molly tells her that it's because she knew Holden would run for her.
As Damian stands by his freighter, Holden shows up. "You have everything. Why don't you just let me go?" Damian asks. Holden can't do that.
At the station, Jack is sitting at his old desk settling in when Holden runs in to tell him that Lily is in trouble. He explains what Molly found out. Jack can't do anything; he's not officially a cop and there's no evidence. He asks him not to go vigilante about this. Holden storms off.
In a hotel room, Damian tries to wake up Meg after strangling her. He hears Lily at the door and runs into the doorway to stop her, suggesting they go downstairs. "I'm suddenly in the mood for cognac," he says. She'd rather pack and leave. He won't let her in. "What? Do you have another woman in here?" she asks with a laugh. She pushes in. They sit down and talk over a future trip. He tells her that he's already packed for her and suggests she meet him downstairs. She gets suspicious but agrees to go. When she leaves, he begins packing. Lily sneaks back in to look in the trunk where she left her sweaters. Damian tries to stop her, but when she opens it, she finds Meg's body. Damian explains what happened. Lily gasps. "It was her life or mine," he insists. She thinks they should call the police. He can't take that risk and accuses her of not believing him. Lily says the police have no reason to doubt him given Meg's history. She threatens to call the cops. He smashes her phone and tells her they can't go back to Oakdale, they have to go to Malta. Lily refuses but he sees no other way. As he drags her out, Holden arrives and confronts Damian, explaining to Lily everything that's happened. They bicker. When Holden says the cops are on the way, Damian whips out a gun. Lily blurts out that Meg escaped. After she explains everything, Holden rushes Damian and they struggle with the gun. Damian wins out and holds Holden at gunpoint. He offers to give Lily the life he's always promised. "If you leave here with her, you have to kill me first," Holden says. Damian agrees and takes aim.
Holden goes to see Meg at the hospital. He tells her that Molly couldn't get the goods on Damian. Meg begins to weep and accuses him of thinking she's crazy.
Holden and Molly go back to the farm house. He beats himself up about his sister losing all grasp of reality right under his nose. She suggests he spend some time away so they decide to go and see Abigail. As he kisses her, she pulls away and cries. "I have to tell you the truth," she says. In tears, she tells him what Grady told her and how Damian convinced her to stay quiet. He assures her that he wouldn't have just dropped her for Lily. She's afraid she's thrown away any chance they had at making this work. He doesn't know if he can forgive her... he's just worried about his sister. Holden vows not to let Damian get away with this. He worries about Lily and runs off.
Holden and Molly are in Chicago looking for Grady. She makes him hide so Grady won't get suspicious. When she sits down at the bar, Grady comes in and recognizes her as a disgraced TV reporter. He flirts with her. She asks him what he's running away from and pours him another drink. When she asks about his past, he asks her to dance. He offers to show her his other moves up in his room. As he kisses her, Holden has to stop himself from jumping in. She slips off to 'make herself beautiful'. Holden worries. She thinks his being jealous is cute and tells him to meet her at the hotel later. Molly goes back to Grady and they continue drinking. She digs into his misdeeds and he confesses that he took a payoff to cover up DNA evidence.
Holden returns to his hotel room. Lily calls to complain and asks him if he did this on purpose so she couldn't go away. After she hangs up, Molly arrives. He admits that he was jealous seeing Grady kiss her and asks what she found out. "Nothing," she claims. They kiss and he tears off her clothes.
Sharkey meets with some floozy at the Lakeview. They go upstairs. Holden and Molly bribe the concierge for information on him. Holden assumes Sharkey is on someone's payroll. They follow the lackey up to his room. He sends his call girl out and Holden begins questioning him. As Sharkey tries to stonewall him, Molly checks his phone and asks why Damian was the last person to call him. Molly and Holden walk out. Holden wants to expose Damian. "We didn't find out a thing," she points out.
