No stranger to daytime drama, Hubbard began her career by playing Anne Fletcher on Guiding Light (1962) and Carol Kramer on Edge of Night (1963). But it was her role of Dr. Althea Davis on NBC’s The Doctors (1964-1969 & 1970 – 1982) that got her career really rolling, as well as the first Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (1974). She followed the award two years later with another Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Actress, this time for her role as Edith Wilson in First Ladies’ Diaries (1976).

She has been nominated for Daytime Emmys for her role as Lucinda Walsh 9 times. In addition to her work on television, Hubbard has played in multiple Broadway plays and musicals, and has appeared in many movies, including Never Sang for my Father (1970), Ordinary People (1980), and Center Stage (2000), and has appeared on the sitcom Hope and Faith as well as Law and Order.
