Additionally, the money they raise for the National Grants Programs goes to aid community-based AIDS organizations across the nation.

The Council of Actors' Equity Association founded Equity Fights AIDS in October of 1987, and Broadway Cares was founded by the members of The Producer's Group in February of 1988. In May of 1992, the two merged as one. To date, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS reports that they have been able to contribute more than $72 million to AIDS, family service organizations and individuals all over the nation.
