The shows are judged on an episode that originally aired between December 1, 2006 and November 30, 2007.
AMC has seen it's share of upheaval in the past year. In February head-writer Megan McTavish was fired from the show; interim writers took over the show but a new co-head-writing team wasn't announced until May. Barbara Esensten and James Harmon Brown took over writing duties at that point, promising fans that they would return to the type of stories historically shown in Pine Valley - emotional, family-oriented and groundbreaking. Since the writing changes fans, at least, have been much more satisfied with the writing, though many have been vocal that the core families are still on the backburner in favor of a younger crowd.
Will the change in writing regimes help AMC's chances this year? We'll have to wait and see.
In 2007 As The World Turns won the Daytime Serial category of the WGA Awards.
The awards ceremony will be held on February 9, 2008 at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles and the Hudson Theatre at the Broadway Millennium Hotel in New York. The ceremonies will be held simultaneously.
Soaps.com congratulates the writers of AMC for their hard work this past year. Good luck!!
