    Erica and Caleb bring Kendall to the hospital. Once Kendall is settled in her room, Frankie and Griffin tell Erica and Caleb that Kendall has pneumonia, which is putting a strain on her heart making heart failure and rejection a possibility. She is on antibiotics and is stable though. Erica needs a moment alone and walks away. Erica prays to her mother for help as Caleb tells her she can see Kendall now. Erica tells a sleeping Kendall she is sorry for their argument, but she's trying to protect her. Erica is asked to leave but Griffin promises to let her know if there is any change. Erica and Caleb exit the room, as Caleb informs her he called Bianca and Jack for her. Caleb then deduces that Erica didn’t shoot David, but Kendall did. Erica denies it, but Caleb says he can prove it.

    Caleb and Erica go to the rooftop where he explains his theory that Erica couldn't have shot David from where she was standing. Erica relents and tells Caleb he is right. She explains she found Kendall holding the gun after she shot David and shooed her away, but Kendall doesn’t seem to remember what happened. Erica explains she took the blame because Kendall is fragile and needs her. Erica in turn needs Caleb to help them both get through this. They hear everyone on the street celebrating the New Year, but Erica knows the past doesn't end at midnight. Erica begs Caleb to help her. He assures her she can count on him and trust him and then pulls her into a kiss.

    Erica visits Caleb on Christmas Eve and encourages him to reach out to Asher. She shares her own story regarding Kendall and how they overcame their ugly past. Caleb calls her an amazing woman and suggests she go home and be with her daughter.

    Colby finds Caleb looking at the newborns at the hospital and calls Asher, instructing him to get over there. Once Asher arrives, Colby leaves him alone with Caleb, who invites him to watch over the babies with him. Caleb recalls how small and perfect Asher looked as a baby. Caleb thought he'd be better off without him, but he was wrong. Caleb apologizes, but Asher just walks away. Colby stops him and informs him that Caleb donated money to the neonatal unit in honor of his mother Sonia.

    In the park, Asher admits to Colby he might have been wrong about Caleb, while Caleb tells the portrait of Palmer at Wildwind he will fight for his son no matter what it takes.

    After Annie blurts out to a stunned JR that she loves him. She apologizes for saying it like that but admits it's true. She hopes he loves her too, but then Caleb knocks on the door. JR hides Annie and answers to Caleb. He informs Junior that the SEC has ruled on Cortlandt Electronics and it's back where it belongs. JR thinks the decision can be overturned, but Caleb retorts he took his eye off the ball and allowed himself to be led around by his personal life. He warns if he's not careful, he could lose Chandler too. After more taunts, Caleb leaves. JR rushes out as well, leaving Annie behind. Amanda comes over and Annie tells her friend JR stormed out of there after learning about Cortlandt. She also admits she told him she loved him and that JR didn't say anything back. She doesn’t feel like the woman JR loves. She feels like some 'chick' being stashed away and she hates that. Annie points out how every time she gets close to happiness something gets in the way. Amanda thinks it might be her and urges suggests she trust that things will be good.

    Erica heads over to Wildwind where Caleb is ready to celebrate. He tells her how sweet it was to see JR twist when he heard the news. Caleb apologizes for resisting her help at first, but thinks they can make the company great again. He even has a position in mind for Asher. He can't remember the last time he felt this good and notes it feels good to be back in the game. He owes most of it to her. Caleb gets a call and learns about her indictment. Erica thinks him getting her off on a murder charge will be a piece of cake after besting the Chandlers.

    Caleb joins Erica and Jack at ConFusion. He says he hasn't heard anything from the D.A.'s office, so he thinks they should make it look like Liza is using Erica's celebrity to climb her professional ladder. Jack and Caleb want to use the public's sympathy regarding Kendall to help her case. Erica declares Kendall and the rest of her family are off limits. She thinks dealing with Liza one on one is the best way to go, but the men think that's out of the question. Jack offers to talk to Liza himself and sets out to do just that. Erica gets a call from the SEC who tells her Caleb is once again the owner of Cortlandt Electronics. Caleb grabs Erica in an embrace and says they need to celebrate. She has to see Kendall first and suggests they celebrate when the dust settles. She congratulates him and says Palmer would be proud.

    At the hospital, Caleb tells Erica about Kendall almost smothering David with a pillow. He thinks Kendall needs help. She needs her. Erica thanks him for being there for Kendall to talk to. She hopes she can return the favor and help him. He says she already has, more than she knows.

    An enthusiastic Kendall stops by Wildwind to tell Bianca of her plans for a Fusion holiday party. Bianca isn't sure Kendall is ready for it. Kendall wants to get back to work and to work on Zach's new passion: The Miranda Center. Bianca notes she will be getting more involved with it as well. The Reverend stops by and supports Kendall's desire to get out of the house. Kendall wants to keep Zach's spirit alive and be the woman he wanted her to be. She expresses how angry she is with the people she perceives to be responsible for his death. Ricky tells her she should break something in order to release some of that anger. Bianca gets her a dish David and Greenlee left behind when they moved out and Kendall smashes it. She feels a bit better and Bianca suggests they take the kids to find a Christmas tree later. Kendall agrees and then leaves. Ricky leaves as well and Caleb returns home, as Asher stops by to work on the computer. Caleb hides upstairs, as Bianca gives Asher a coat as a Christmas present. He appreciates the gift and Bianca leaves. Caleb returns to the room, thinking Asher has left. The men make some small talk before about the gifts Caleb got Kendall's kids. He isn't sure what to get a boy who just lost his father. Asher says all he wants is his dad and leaves.
