    Erica meets with the reporter at ConFusion to offer him full access to her life and wedding if he won't air the footage of Caleb and Asher. Jack walks in and wonders what she's up to. She fills him in on what just happened. Jack isn't thrilled she traded his privacy for Caleb's. He reminds her he's fighting for his daughter and now the whole world will be invited to watch. He wonders what the Hell she was thinking. She defends her position explaining how Asher accused Caleb of murder and that would have been all over the news, which would hurt their case with the SEC. She promises to keep him out of it as much as possible and assures him once both their ordeals are over, they can focus on each other. Jack meets with Greenlee, who needs him to know how much she loves him and how thankful she is. Liza secretly listens in as they talk about finding 'the witness' before the jury comes back. Greenlee thinks it would set her free. Jack gets a call and he steps away to take it, as Greenlee slips out. Liza approaches Jack worried Greenlee had somewhere to be in a real hurry. Liza makes a call expressing her hunch that Greenlee could be skipping bail.

    Ryan stops by ConFusion to question the bartender about Nick. She doesn’t know much and he asks her to call if she remembers anything. He then runs into Liza who expresses concern for Greenlee. Ryan is incensed, but she tells him she had to do her job in the courtroom. She warns him this won’t end the way he and Greenlee want it to.

    Tad tells Ryan at the courthouse that he learned Nick turned down money to come back to tell the truth because he doesn’t need it. He also discovered that he has a million dollars in off shore accounts all made the day David died. They head inside the courtroom, as Greenlee takes the stand. Jack asks her about her relationship with David and she explains how he helped her after her accident and she married him because he was devoted and loyal and would do anything for her. She explains about the blackmail but vows she did not kill him. During the cross examination, Liza asks Greenlee about her feelings for Ryan and the kiss she witnessed at the courthouse. As Kendall and Zach join the proceedings, Liza accuses Greenlee of actually loving Ryan and wanting out of her marriage. Liza presses her to reveal how she feels about David being murdered. Greenlee says she’s very sorry. Jack questions her again and asks what she’s sorry for. Greenlee says she’s sorry David is dead, but she didn’t kill him. Liza and Jack then make their closing statements and the jury leaves to deliberate.

    Liza and Damon walk into ConFusion and see Nick. Liza talks with Nick and pretends to drink with him, but she secretly pours her drink out in a plant. A drunk Nick hits on her and tells her how he was fired from a job. Liza gets more information out of Nick and tells Damon to sober Nick up and get him to the courthouse. Elsewhere at ConFusion, Madison calls Frankie to meet her. She tells him about Ryan and Greenlee. She was so sure she found someone to love who loved her back. She wonders how she could be so stupid. Frankie consoles her and vows to be there for her.

    Liza returns to court as the proceedings get back under way. Ryan is called to the stand where Liza gets him to admit he borrowed a travel blogger's name once when he was showing Greenlee how he worked as a con man while at a hotel. Liza tells him the manager of the hotel, Nick Pearson, was fired due to his con, leaving him with one heck of a grudge. Once court is in recess, Ryan confronts Liza about Nick and then talks with Jack about what just happened. He apologizes to Greenlee, but she's not sorry at all. Ryan thinks there's more to Nick's story than they know and promises Greenlee it is not over. Ryan leaves and Greenlee tells her father she wants to take the stand.

    Inside the courtroom, Liza sends Damon on an errand then brings up the witness Tad tracked down, Nick Pearson. She accuses him of trying to ruin her case. Tad makes it clear that not everything he does is about her. Court is called to order and Ryan takes the stand. Jack questions Ryan about his history with Greenlee. Ryan describes their connection, how they met, and their past marriage. Madison and Greenlee listen as Ryan talks about Greenlee's death and how he felt as though he lost part of himself. Talk turns to Greenlee's marriage to David. Ryan admits he felt as though he had let her go all over again. Jack asks if he was still in love with Greenlee when she returned. Ryan admits he was. It was as though he'd been given a second chance. Jack asks about David. Ryan didn't like him very much. He felt furious and protective over Greenlee when it came to David. Ryan recalls fighting with David but says he can't remember most of it. Liza objects and the judge calls a recess. Ryan stops Madison. He's sorry she had to hear that. He wasn't sure how he really felt about Greenlee until the words came out. "We're finished," Madison says and walks away.

    When Damon returns to court, he tells Liza about how Nick was bragging. They wonder why he isn't laying low like he said he would, for fear of destroying his marriage. Damon says Nick was talking like he wanted Ryan to pay.

    At the defense desk Jack promises Greenlee she’ll walk out of the courtroom a free woman. Ryan arrives and she asks the Judge to remove him from court. The Judge asks Liza and Jack to address the court. Jack apologizes for his client and Ryan is forcibly removed from the courtroom.

    Back in the courtroom, When Jack returns to his chair he tells Greenlee that she made the judge angry. The defense calls their first witness, Nick Pearson. Liza objects and she and Jack approach the bench again. Liza complains but the judge tells her to sit down and the witness arrives. Jack quietly says to Greenlee, like I said, “Trust me." Jack questions Pearson. He says on the night of David’s death he saw a disoriented man outside his hotel room. When asked if he was okay he told him that someone was going to die tonight. Liza and Jack approach the bench again. The judge sides with Jack and the questioning of the witness continues. He asks if Nick has ever seen the man before. Ryan enters the courtroom and Nick yells that he’s the man. Nick saw Ryan at 9:00 PM and David’s time of death was 9:10 PM. Jack says that isn’t the logical conclusion that Ryan Lavery killed David? Liza objects vehemently. The objection is overruled and they continue. Pearson says he didn’t come forward because the woman he was seeing wasn’t his wife. Jack gives the floor to Liza. Liza implies a bribe and Jack objects. Pearson says he’s telling the truth. The judge calls a recess. Greenlee accuses Jack of lying and angrily walks away from the table. Greenlee goes over to Ryan and confronts him. She thinks the strategy is flawed. She asks why he’s willing to give up everything for her and what all of this means.

    Damon gives Liza a glass of water in court chambers but she refuses it. He reminds her that she was in the hospital recently and she tells him to keep quiet so people won’t find out.
