Aidan looks at the plans in the cylinder, matches them up to the maps on the wall and realizes Greenlee and Zach may be there. He and Kendall head to the area to search. They get to the area and begin to move leaves and other debris that are covering the entrance. "This has to be it, this had to be it," she says. They move the door and holler down but no one answers them. Aidan points his flashlight in the hole and sees Greenlee and Zach, unconscious, on the floor. Aidan believes they are dead and pulls Kendall away from the entrance. They return to the house and Kendall tries to call for help but their phones are out. Quentin walks in. They return to the hole and with Quentin's help lower Aidan down to Greenlee and Zach. Once at the bottom Aidan checks them both but can't find a pulse for either of them! Aidan checks Zach more closely and finds a pulse. Because Greenlee is in worse shape they bring her up first; Aidan starts CPR on her when they get her to the surface. Kendall turns to Quentin and orders him to lower her down to Zach. Aidan continues working on Greens and she finally begins breathing on her own again. Quentin tells Aidan they have to get down to Kendall quickly. In the hole Kendall holds on to Zach and promises him that they will be fine. As she talks, part of the wall collapses!
In the bomb shelter Greenlee talks about watching people she loves die and brings up Zach's faked death. "What did that feel like?" she asks. Zach tells her that "killing" Alexander, JR. was the first time he ever felt free and alive. Crying, Greenlee tries to be tough and brave but realizes she can't do it. She turns to Zach and asks him to help her die! Zach holds Greenlee until she falls asleep. A while later the flashlights go out. "I'm sorry, Kendall," he says.
In the bomb shelter Greenlee is having problems breathing because of the remaining snake venom. Zach tells her it is just panic but Greens doesn't believe him. "Your lungs are fine," he says and then tells her the truth - their air supply is running out and that is why she is having trouble breathing! Zach believes a snowstorm or something has come through the area, cutting off their air supply. Greenlee begins to freak out but Zach calms her down, telling her to breathe deeply and not talk. "I'm afraid," Zach says. He tells her about watching Alexander kill his mother and says that is why he can never be wrong and refuses to lose control of anything in his life. Greenlee tells Zach that he doesn't have to carry that load alone and Zach says he doesn't, because he has Kendall to help him along. They sit for a while longer and then Zach manages to squeeze some water from roots in the wall. The water revives Greens a bit. Cold air begins to seep into the shelter. Zach and Greenlee huddle under a blanket.
In the bomb shelter the area where Zach has been digging begins to collapse under the weight of water pouring through. Desperately Greenlee and Zach try to stem the tide but they can't. Zach tells Greenlee that if they keep digging more water will come in but if they stop digging they'll never get out of the hole. Zach sets up a pan under the running water, hoping they at least will get some drinking water out of the latest predicament. Greenlee tells a few lame jokes but Zach isn't interested in joking around. Greenlee keeps on with the jokes for a while anyhow. When she starts joking about her appearance Zach actually grins. He tells Greens a few jokes. Greenlee asks Zach how much time he thinks they really have.
In the bomb shelter Zach goes after the snake and kills it with the shovel. Greenlee begins freaking out, believing this is the end for her. "I don't wanna die, I don't wanna die," she says. Zach tries to calm her down and instructs Greenlee to keep her hand below her heart. He gives he a popsicle stick type board, places his mouth over the wound and begins to suck the venom out of her! Zach bandages her wound, instructs Greenlee to stay calm and keep her hand below her heart. He hands her a bottle of booze hoping that will calm her, too. Greens asks Zach to get rid of the snake and he says he can't - because the snake is going to be their dinner! Zach goes back to digging but Greenlee makes him stop. She hears a light hammering sound from above them!
In the bomb shelter Greenlee is going through their supplies and realizes that things are beginning to run low. When Zach still won't talk to her she counts him in as another supply running low. When he still won't talk she orders him back to digging so at least they might get out of there alive. Neither notices that a snake has crawled in through the holes Zach is digging! He asks what they do have and Greenlee tells him most of the food left is inedible and the barrel of water they have smells like swamp water. He tries a sip and tells her they can't drink the water because it has gone bad. Greenlee dampens a cloth and begins to bathe herself with the water since she can't drink anything. Zach returns to digging. Greenlee sees how tired he is and tells him to take a break but Zach won't stop. She holds the light for Zach and tells him that they are down to their last battery. She sits down by the pile of sticks and sees something move! Zach tells her to calm down and stop imagining ghosts in the corners. Greenlee begins searching for the love letters, hoping that they will get her mind off the dire situation. She reaches in to the pile of sticks and the snake bites her!
Zach continues digging in the bomb shelter. After a while Greenlee turns back to him to see how the progress is going. Zach is very distant and she wonders why. Then, she realizes that this is the day of Spike's operation. Greenlee apologizes once again for keeping Zach away from his family and for her part in Spike's deafness. Zach doesn't want to hear anything about Spike from her but Greenlee keeps talking and tells Zach she was going to take Spike! She tells him that for a second she wanted what she was supposed to have - Spike! - because he trusted her and no one else would give her the time of day. But, she tells Zach that she was turning around to bring Spike back when the accident happened. "I would do anything to make it right," she cries. Zach stares at her for a few seconds and then turns back to the wall to continue digging. When Greens won't stop talking about how she admitted her mistakes and apologized, Zach tells her to shut up and dig. Greenlee just keeps going, ranting about forgiveness and changes. Zach turns back to the wall but Greenlee just keeps interrupting him. He refuses to listen to her and returns to the wall anyhow. Greenlee finally shuts up and holds the flashlights so he can see better.
In the bomb shelter Greenlee begins to freak out over the skeleton hand. Zach shakes Greenlee, telling her to calm down and swearing that he will get them out of there. Seeing that she is still upset, Zach tries to make her mad by pointing out that he ruined her life. That works and Greenlee pulls herself together. Zach tosses some refuse from their digging over the hand. "We're not getting out of here, Zach," Greenlee says. When Zach turns back to digging, Greenlee freaks out even more and tells him to stop or they'll find even more bones. He points out that they are only bones and says he won't die down there the way whoever the bones belong to did. He turns back to the digging. As Zach digs Greenlee begins to obsess about Aidan and her lost dreams and how Zach killed everything for her. Unable to keep listening, Zach wraps some cloth around his hands and says, "It's time for you to be quiet"! Greens takes a step back and Zach says he was only going to blindfold her. Reluctantly Greenlee agrees to be blindfolded so she can concentrate on Aidan and Zach can concentrate on digging.
In the bomb shelter, Greenlee has a panic attack and can't bring. Zach manages to calm her down and sets her to work on another project - separating all of the canned food items - which he continues digging. While she is going through the cans Greenlee comes across a packet of love letters. She begins to read. Zach tells her to stop! Greens reads a little more but quietly and then puts the letters away. Zach returns to his digging. Greenlee rambles about her sisterly bond with Kendall. Zach chops a little more dirt and hits something hard in the wall! Zach digs around it and pulls a bony hand from the rubble!
