Caleb stops by Jack's to tell him Liza dropped the charges against Erica. Jack is happy to hear it and informs Caleb Erica won't be needing his services any longer. Caleb leaves and gets a call. He says he'll be right there.
Jack finds Erica and Caleb talking about David in the hallway. After Erica leaves to tell Kendall about David, Caleb assures Jack he's available if Erica needs a lawyer again.
Perks Of The Job.
Jack finds Liza at ConFusion to talk about Erica, but she lets him know Caleb already came to her with a deal. Liza orders another drink and Jack asks if she's alright. Liza says no because her career is not going the way she intended. Jack doesn't want her to lose her job, but he reminds her there's more to life than the courtroom.
Ryan gets Kendall settled in her room and leaves. Erica visits her and Kendall explains she feels like she's remembering something, but she doesn't have any specifics. She then turns the spotlight on Erica and asks about her drinking on New Year's Eve. Erica assures her she is fine, as Jack walks in. Jack pulls Erica out in the hall and wonders if she knew Caleb went to Liza with a deal. It's the first Erica has heard of it. Jack tells her the deal included some community service and a fine, which Caleb offered to pay. Erica is surprised, but says Caleb was probably just doing what he thought was best. Back in Kendall's room, she informs Griffin she's giving him 24 hours to get her sprung or else she's leaving on her own.
Erica and Jack go to David's room and talk about Kendall. Once they're gone, a still comatose David says Kendall's name.
There's Always Tomorrow.
Erica returns to the hospital and finds Bianca and Jack. Jack apologizes for fighting with her earlier, but a guilt-ridden Erica assures him she's not even thinking about that right now. Jack asks where Erica went and she explains she was talking to her mother and Zach to ask them to keep an eye on Kendall. She then tells him her New Year's resolution is to never take him for granted. They hug as they both declare their love. Bianca sees Caleb in the hallway and walks over to him. Caleb encourages her to look out for her mother.
The Past Doesn't End At Midnight.
As Erica sits at home, she pulls out a box of letters she's been writing to her deceased mother. She writes another one, listing all her blessings, which include Jack, Bianca and even Caleb. She also talks about Kendall and asks Mona to take care of Zach. Erica continues to write about David and the decision she made which has gotten her into trouble. She declares her New Year's resolution is to not mess up the happiness she has found. Jack walks in the door to tell her he's been planning their dinner so they have the best New Year's ever. Before they can celebrate, Erica has to see her girls first, as well as a few other things.
Erica brings Jack to the hospital to see David. Jack doesn’t understand why she wants to be there, but she says this makes her feel like she has some control. Jack steps away to take a call from Lily, as Liza walks in. She shows Erica a photo from security footage of Kendall standing over David with a pillow. Erica tries to play it off, but Liza hammers home how serious this is. Erica warns Liza if she goes after her daughter she will regret it. Jack joins them and sees the photo. He reminds Liza she can't put someone in jail for merely thinking about a crime. Erica rips up the photo and leaves with Jack. Out in the hallway, Jack confronts Erica about already knowing about Kendall and the pillow. She admits Caleb told her and he wonders why she didn’t tell him. He asks if she doesn’t trust him. She insists that's not it, but says something about not wanting to run from reality. Jack gets angry and steps outside before he says something he'll regret.
Christmas Miracles And Secrets.
At home, Emma tells Ryan and Jack she wants a baby sister. Ryan tells her their family is perfect the way it is and Emma heads off to bed. Jack asks Ryan if he's okay with Greenlee not being able to have children. Ryan just needs to be with Greenlee because he loves her. Erica rushes over to Ryan's place and jumps in Jack's arms to tell him that she loves him. Greenlee returns home with hugs for everyone, including Erica. She then reveals Kendall is with her and that they are friends again.
Jack brings Erica to the rooftop so she isn't haunted by what happened up there. He assures her everything will be alright.
