Griffin meets with David in the interrogation room. Griffin says the drugs aren't working on the patient and he doesn't know what to do. David can't tell him because he needs to see for himself what's going on. David summons Angie and asks her to convince Jesse to release him so he can save his patient. Jesse wants to know who the patient is first. David tells him, but Jesse doesn’t believe him because there was a police investigation and coroner's report. Angie appeals to Jesse to help save a life.

In handcuffs and with Jesse by his side, David anxiously waits for his patient to be wheeled into the hospital. Griffin says it was touch and go, but he is still alive. After Jesse uncuffs him, David rushes to his patient's side and urges Stuart to fight.

At the station, JR watches as David asks Griffin to keep his patient healthy. Griffin is resistant, but David knows his conscience will get the better of him. Krystal stops JR from going into the interrogation room to accuse him of attempted kidnapping. She tells him Marisa is getting a restraining order so he won't be able to see his son for a long time. JR tells Krystal he thinks David is keeping Babe alive, but Krystal doesn’t think it's true. After Griffin storms out, Marissa shows up with her restraining order. JR crumples it up and throws it at her saying she'll need more than a piece of paper to back up her threats. Krystal and Marissa call him a drunk and a bully, but JR knows when he gets Babe back, they will get their son.

Angie visits David in the interrogation room and reveals that he made her see again. David is thrilled and thanks her for sharing her news. He then tells her he gave Griffin the name of the patient he wants him to help and bring back. Angie is relieved to hear it.

Cara visits David in his jail cell and tells him she wants him to be part of her baby's life. She doesn't want her baby spending their life wondering if their father will ever come home. She tells him she'll visit him from time to time to keep an eye on him. He pulls her in for a kiss.

After Cara tells David in jail that she's pregnant, he says she has no idea how much it means to him. He can finally be the father one of his children deserves. She corrects him saying this is her baby, not his. He knows he's been a control freak of a father, but not anymore. He tells Cara she's amazing and will make a wonderful mother. Cara sees kindness and generosity in David. He jokes that he hopes their baby has better character judgment than her. JR shows up. Cara starts to leave and David urges her to stay in touch. He thanks her for everything as she exits. JR asks if Babe is alive. David reminds him she died in the tornado because JR dragged her back to town. JR goes crazy as he tries to get an answer out of David. David tells JR that he made his daughter's life a living hell so he would do whatever it takes to keep her away from him. JR wonders if he would hurt AJ in the same way by denying him his mother. JR warns that he either give Babe up or he will make sure he rots in hell.

David calls Griffin to meet him at the jail. He tells him he can't finish his work, but Griffin can. Lives are counting on him. He gives him a piece of paper. Griffin looks at it and says, "My God." JR lurks and makes a phone call to put a tail on Griffin.

In the interrogation room at the jail, Angie empathizes with David, who she thinks just needs love and to feel connected to someone. That's why he does the things he does. However, he's not the only one who has suffered loss. David is sorry for the loss of her daughter. She says it's been torture, but the only way to deal with pain is to stare it down with the help of people who love him. She urges him not to put up his walls and to let her in. He assumes she just wants to make sure he continues treating her, but she assures him she cares what happens to him. She thinks there's hope for him yet, but David notes he's probably going to prison. She counters that it's never too late and urges him to give Pine Valley the people he's holding back, including himself. Frankie enters to pick up his mother. David asks Angie to visit him in prison. She assures him he hasn't seen the last of her.

Once David is back in his cell, Cara visits. She wanted to say goodbye and to tell him she is pregnant with his baby.
