A question. Why do the powers that be at AMC refuse to cast (even if re-occuring) the character of Ruth Martin? I enjoy the way AMC is slowly building back up the Martin clan (Jeff coming back is a great thing) and I believe adding their mother to the mix would be awesome! What a concept; A strong matronly female presence to guide for the most part what is a bunch of misguided boys/men. I would love seeing scenes of family dinners with all the Martins (hopefully Jake soon also) discussing all their problems and hopes and dreams...not the usual I threaten you/you threaten me stuff that AMC has become (not in a good way) famous for. Also, is there a female sibling in the Martin clan (Tara maybe) and wouldn't that too be really cool to have a sister around that the Martins can (overly lol) protect? Just my opinion.. let me know yours please

    peace out

I would love to see Ruth and Tara back. In the very beginning when the show focused on the Martin family, it was wonderful. The romance of Tara and Phil is my all-time favorite AMC s/l.
I read recently that James Mitchell is going to be let go. That would be such a shame. Remember Daisy and PC? They were perfect together.
Those of us who have been watching since Day 1 would love to see the veterans come back with stories. The Ryan/Kendall and revolving members of the triangle has been run into the ground. Krystal and Babe can go back to wherever they came from.
Too bad they ruined the Dixie/Tad reunion. I was so hoping they would be able to resume their wonderful relationship. The way they kept Miranda from Bianca, I doubt that Dixie and Tad will be able to find Kate any time soon, even if she is right under their noses in Pine Valley. So sad.
Yes, bring back Ruth and let her straighten her boys out the way Grandma Kate used to. Bring back Tara, too.

Well, GrandMa Kate passed away. I think the original Ruth just was too sick or not interested in doing anymore. But they did have Lee Meriweather come in as her replacement quite a few times. But even Tara made a brief comeback.

DO YOU THINK THE KID WILL EVER FIND THE SKIS AND COME DOWNSTAIRS?

    Ms Kane,

I agree that GrandMa Kate can't be brought back as a character but why cannot Ruth or Tara be recast? I don't understand ABCs obsession with having one actor be totally synonamous with one character. Not to hurt any of you soapers feelings but with few exceptions such as "Erica Kane" or "Vicky Buchannan" or "Luke Spenser" and a couple others, new actors can be put in existing characters!!! That to me is the one thing that CBS soaps have over ABC soaps; they understand the value of a popular character role and when an actor leaves the role or does not fit the role, they send him/her away for awhile and bring them back..same character new actor.. period. Kendall is a wonderful example of a character that no one thought could be recast when S M Gellar left but was very successfully recast. On OLTL, it took forever but the actor who played Clint Buchannan was replaced very successfully.

AMC has many fine female and male characters but I cannot think of one outside of Joe Martin (And now Jeff Martin) who I consist to be a role model. This cast seems to only concerned with backstabbing and threatening to kill and putting down each other and stalking each other which while sometimes makes for a good story more often than not gets boring and not fun to watch.

These characters need voices of reason like Brooke English (extremely underused) and Ruth Martin to guide them and tell them when they are doing what they know to be wrong and to be there to stand beside them when they ultimately do the right...or wrong thing!

thanks for listening and peace out!
