Cara and Jake argue about the little girl with leukemia, which quickly turns personal. Cara avoids talking about their past and leaves. Jake runs into Scott who gives him a proposal he was working on. Jake thinks there are some good ideas in it. Scott gets a frustrating call and then tells Jake he just lost a big chunk of his life. Jake and Cara meet up again and continue their heated conversation. Amanda walks up to grab Jake on the way to Damon's party. Alone, Cara cries as she has a flashback to a little girl lying in a hospital bed.
Asher tries to make peace with Damon at the mansion and encourages him to stay for his family and Colby. Damon gets defensive and declares he needs to leave. Damon urges Asher to go for Colby if he really likes her, but orders him not to mess with her head or screw her over like he did.
At Liza's, Colby talks to her mother about Damon. She says she got a room for them in New York in hopes of working things out. Liza worries she'll get hurt again and suggests she let things cool off for a while. Colby calls the woman Damon slept with disparaging names and asks Liza if she knows who it is when she gets uncomfortable. Liza just continues to try and convince her daughter to drop it, to no avail. Colby asks Liza to attend the party with her, but she says it's not her place. Colby tells her it would mean a lot to her if she came.
Tad finds JR at ConFusion and encourages him to attend Damon's going away party. Tad brings up Annie and JR admits he and Annie have been seeing each other for a while but they are waiting for the divorce to be final before they go public. Tad notes he's still worried about Marissa and sarcastically wonders what could possibly go wrong. JR defends his relationship with Annie, stating he has real feelings for her, but Tad points out he didn't say he loved her. JR explains it by saying he's stressed over the company, he's worried about AJ and he's not even divorced yet. He admits he can't say he loves her and Tad is happy to hear he has his priorities straight. Tad doesn’t want to see the only son he has left in town make the biggest mistake of his life. JR assures him Annie isn't the time bomb he's making her out to be, but Tad warns JR to keep his eye on her.
With scissors in hand, Annie startles Marissa who is decorating for Damon's party at Krystal's. Annie hands her the scissors and then offers her assistance in getting ready for the party. Marissa wants to know why she's really there and also questions her about spending so much time at the mansion. The women cattily argue and Annie accuses Marissa of trying to get rid of her so she can have everything – including JR. Opal and Krystal enter, which prompts Annie to storm out. Marissa follows suit, as Tad, Amanda and Jake arrive. The guest of honor walks in the door, as Colby and Liza follow.
Annie returns to the hotel room and frantically leaves JR a message on his phone. She then imagines Marissa and JR having sex in the bed and starts to trash the room. Sobbing, Annie tries to call JR again and leaves messages until his mailbox is full. She then calls the house and tells AJ, who answers, to tell his daddy she needs to talk to him.
Scott barges into the mansion to rail at JR for selling off all his stuff. Scott tells him there was one box left of his mother's things and his father's painting so that's all he needs. JR, however, is the poorest son of a bitch he's ever met. Once Scott has left, Marissa walks in to tell JR they have a problem with Annie and urges him to watch his back. She leaves and JR sees all the missed calls from Annie on his phone.
Scott returns to the hospital and finds Cara. He bemoans the loss of his possessions and then mentions he has to drop off some papers to someone at the Yacht Club.
Annie leaves her hotel room and runs into Scott in the hallway. He wonders what she's doing there, but then says, "Let me guess. JR."
As the party gets going at Krystal's, Amanda expresses her positive feelings to Jake about them making a baby the other night. Jake kisses her as Cara walks in. When Jake is alone, Cara asks to talk to him. They head outside and she admits the little girl with cancer hit home for her because she used to be that little girl. Meanwhile, Tad discusses Damon with Liza, who apologizes. Tad warns Liza she's playing with fire by being there, as Damon tells Colby he's moving to California. She thinks they can still work things out, but Damon says their love isn't enough. Not anymore. Colby sees her mother in tears and Liza says she's sorry she hurt her.
