Calling all dancers! This could be your chance to dance the jive with a soap star! All My Children star Brent Weber is the latest actor to put on his dancing shoes. In February, 2008, Brent will take part in a dance marathon which will benefit Camp Heartland.
Several other stars will participate in the 12-hour dancing marathon including American Idol star Kimberley Locke and actor Jonathan Bennett (you'll remember him as the hunk from "Mean Girls"). During the event live DJs will keep the dancers (YOU!) entertained. There will also be live music throughout the event.
All that is missing from the event is you. Yes, YOU! The event coordinators are looking for several more dance volunteers to get out there and dance - and raise a little money, too. Here is what you need to do: register for the event by clicking here. When you register, you'll be committing to raise at least $100 for Camp Heartland. As a dancer you'll get to be up close and personal with the stars at a meet and greet during the event.
In addition to the fun of a 12-hour dance marathon and spending a little time with your favorite Pine Valley hunk, dancers are also eligible for a few prizes offered by the foundation. There will be Camp Heartland merchandise offered, a dinner with Jonathan Bennett and even airline tickets to wherever you would like to go!
Why should you join in? Because it is for a great cause!
Camp Heartland is a non-profit organization which serves children and families dealing with HIV/AIDS. It was founding in 1993 and is the largest camping and care program for these families. You can find out more about Camp Heartland here.
Will your donation really help? Most definitely! Every $100 raised by the volunteers will provide a full week of meals for a camper. If you could raise $500, you could pay for a camper's plane ticket so they could attend the camp!
The dance marathon is looking for 300 volunteer dancers to commit to the cause of February 2, 2008 and if each volunteer raises on the minimum $100, they will together raise $30,000 to benefit Camp Heartland and a group of kids and families who could really use a helping hand.
